We drove out to Baby Blue Pizza Chamblee last month and never ate a slice. They were sold out before we got there.

That was the entire plan for the first meeting of our pizza dinner club, and it died in the parking lot. This month we came back with a strategy, and we finally got to eat.
Here's the honest version of what happened, what we ordered, and the exact scores all three of us gave.
What is the pizza dinner club?
The pizza dinner club is a simple rule the three of us made: once a month we go eat at a pizza place with a strong Dave Portnoy score, and we each score the pies ourselves. It's me, Jesse Howell, and Josh Gentrup. Same three guys every time.

One clarification on that, though. We go by Portnoy's number, not the One Bite community score. The community scores are user submissions, and plenty of them are rookie numbers from people who rate every pie they eat an 8.5. Dave's score is the one we use to pick where we go.
Baby Blue was supposed to be our first stop. It ended up being the first place we actually ate, in month two.
What is Baby Blue Pizza in Chamblee?
Baby Blue is the pizza operation at Bluetop in Chamblee, at 5372 Peachtree Road, right next to the main restaurant. It opened in February 2026 with six pizzas on the menu and plans to add frozen custard later, according to Rough Draft Atlanta.
Bluetop itself came from Portofino executive chef Matt Marcus and business partner Andy Lasky, as the AJC reported when the restaurant was announced. Baby Blue is the newer, more casual thing living in the backyard.
The setup is picnic tables, big blue umbrellas, and an outdoor patio, plus the Bluetop dining room if you ask. It's dine-in or takeout, and it isn't trying to be fancy. Google has it at 4.5 stars across 88 reviews as of August 2026.
The pizza is thin. Very thin. Bar pie territory.
Can you eat Baby Blue pizza inside?
Yes. You can sit inside the Bluetop dining room, and they'll bring the Baby Blue pizza in to you, which is what we did. It was August in Georgia and too hot to sit outside if you had another option.

The decision backfired. Bluetop's air conditioning was not working that day, so we traded picnic tables in the sun for a dining room that was barely better. It was brutal either way.
The food was still good enough that nobody suggested leaving.
Why did we have to plan ahead to get in?
Because Baby Blue runs out of dough, and they run out early. On our first attempt in July, they were already done for the day when we showed up, and the sun was still up.
We're not the only people who've taken that punch. A One Bite reviewer put it plainly in June: "Get here early as they sell out around 3-4p took me a couple attempts but worth it."
This month Jesse handled it. He messaged them on Instagram ahead of time, and they set dough aside for us. We rolled in at 4 pm, and it was fine, which it would not have been without that message. Look at the window in that review again. Four o'clock is the back end of it.
The message plus getting there inside that window is what worked. If you're going for the first time, do both. Message @babybluechamblee and get there early in the afternoon. Don't roll up at 6:30 on a Saturday expecting a pizza to be waiting for you.
What did we order at Baby Blue?
We ordered two pies, the Buffalo Chicken and the signature Baby Blue, which is the right amount for three grown men who came to score pizza and not to be polite about it.
The Buffalo Chicken is $25. It comes with a ranch or blue cheese base, fried chicken, bacon crumbles, shredded cheese, tomato halves, and a ranch drizzle. We took ranch on the base and ranch on the drizzle. No blue cheese anywhere on it. I'll defend that choice to anyone who wants to argue.
The Baby Blue is $28. Red sauce, shredded mozzarella, burrata, pepperoni, hot honey, and fresh basil. That's the signature pie, the one the place is named after.
One request we made, which matters later: the Baby Blue is normally their square pie, and we asked for it as a traditional thin round instead.
How was the Buffalo Chicken pizza?

The Buffalo Chicken was the best pizza on the table, and it was unanimous. All three of us scored it higher than the signature pie, which surprised every one of us.
The fried chicken is actually fried chicken, not the sad rubbery cubes most places use. The bacon crumbles do real work. The tomato halves cut through the ranch enough that the whole thing doesn't turn into a heavy mess by slice four, which is where most buffalo chicken pizzas fall apart.
A One Bite user got there before us in May and called the Buffalo Chicken "an absolute BANGER," adding that it "might be the best specialty pie I've ever had." I don't put any weight on random user scores, and I'll still say that guy was onto something.
How was the signature Baby Blue pizza?

The Baby Blue was good, and it was the lower-scoring pie of the two. Every one of us had it second.
Burrata, pepperoni, and hot honey is a combination that should win. The hot honey and the basil were the best parts. The problem for me was structure. On a super thin round crust, burrata is a lot of wet cheese to ask a base to carry, and the middle got soft.
That might be on us, though. The Baby Blue is their square pie by default, and we asked them to run it thin and round. A thicker square base almost certainly handles the burrata better than what we ordered. We changed the recipe and then graded the result, which isn't entirely a fair test of their signature pizza.
If you're going once, order the Baby Blue the way they actually make it.
What are the Online Queso Pizza Scores for Baby Blue?
The Online Queso Pizza Score is my card, so Baby Blue gets an 8.3 on the Buffalo Chicken and a 7.7 on the signature Baby Blue.
Here is what all three of us put down:
-
John: Buffalo Chicken 8.3, Baby Blue 7.7
-
Jesse: Buffalo Chicken 8.6, Baby Blue 8.4
-
Josh: Buffalo Chicken 9.1, Baby Blue 8.6
Josh was the high man on both, and a 9.1 for that Buffalo Chicken is obnoxiously high in my opinion. I was the low man on both. Nobody flipped the order, which is the interesting part. Three different palates, three different score ranges, same ranking.
How does my score compare to Dave Portnoy's?
Dave Portnoy gave Baby Blue Pizza an 8.1 on his One Bite review, posted May 20, 2026. That 8.1 is the number that got Baby Blue on our list in the first place.
My 8.3 on the Buffalo Chicken sits a tick above Dave. My 7.7 on the signature pie sits under him, and I'd point straight back at the fact that we ordered it thin instead of square.
For what it's worth, the One Bite community has Baby Blue at 8.3 across 17 reviews as of August 2026. We don't use that number for anything. It's a pile of user submissions with no standard behind it, and the spread on that page runs from 7.1 to 9.8 for the same kitchen. Dave's 8.1 is the benchmark we care about, and landing near it feels right.
Is Baby Blue Pizza Chamblee worth the trip?
Yes, with one condition: go early enough to actually get pizza.
The food is legitimately good, and our two pies came to $53 before tax and tip, which is fair for three people eating well. For metro Atlanta, where great thin crust is harder to find than it should be, this is a real one. We ate it in a sweatbox and still came out happy, which is its own kind of endorsement.
That condition is the whole review, though. In July we drove out there, found nothing, and went home hungry.
What should you know before you go to Baby Blue?
Get there in the afternoon and message them ahead of time. Those are the two things that decide whether you eat.
A few more that would have saved us a trip:
-
They sell out. Plan for mid-afternoon, not dinner rush.
-
Message them first. Jesse's Instagram DM is the only reason we ate this month.
-
You don't have to sit outside. Picnic tables and umbrellas are the default, but you can eat inside Bluetop, and they'll bring it to you.
-
Order the signature pie as a square. We ran ours thin, and it cost us.
-
Get the Buffalo Chicken. Even if you think you don't like buffalo chicken pizza.

Final Thoughts
Baby Blue Pizza in Chamblee is worth the drive, and it's worth the planning it takes to actually eat there. The Buffalo Chicken is the pie to order, and the numbers back it up on our cards and on Dave's.
Two months into this club, the thing I keep thinking about isn't the pizza. Month one we showed up hopeful and got nothing. Month two, Jesse sent one message ahead of time and the whole night worked.
Next month we do it again. Same three of us, new spot, same scorecards.
